Welcome to Mar Chiquita!

A small seaside village located on the Atlantic coast of Argentina, southeast of Buenos Aires. Fed by creeks from the Sierras de Tandil, and sheltered by a chain of sand dunes, the lagoon Albufera Mar Chiquita covers more than 135,000 acres. This estuary drains alternately into the ocean or absorbs seawater, depending on the tides, creating a unique ecosystem that boasts a huge biodiversity of wildlife and fauna. It is the only lagoon of its kind in Argentina and is recognized as an Important Bird Conservation Area, as well as a designated Biosphere Reserve, and an Internationally Protected Wildlife Refuge.

The area is a paradise for bird watchers, with over 200 species of birds, 86 of which are migratory, including flamingos. There are over 55 species of fish in the lagoon, making it a popular fishing spot, world famous for its large soles.

In addition to being known as a kayak fishing capital of the world, the lagoon is also a popular site for kite surfing and wind surfing. The large recreational area is shallow and flat, making it the perfect location for riders of any level. Around the corner, the coastline creates miles of great surf spots, all the way down past Mar Del Plata.

Our cozy little beach town is located just 30 minutes away from Mar Del Plata, the most visited city in Argentina after Buenos Aires. Once a city known for being a resort for the elite, Mar Del Plata is referred by many Argentines today as The Happy Place; a place to escape and live in the moment.

Like Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata is a large and interesting city that has a lot to offer. From shopping to gastronomy, museums, theaters, bars, nightclubs, and multiple casinos, there is always something to do. Many aristocratic achitectural gems are also still preserved which imitate popular European styles, along with a cornucopia of influences from around the world.

Whether you prefer the tranquilo lifestyle of nature and the countryside, the peace and excitement of the sea, or the hustle and bustle of the busy city life, we’ve got you covered.
